Pioneers Leading the Way were established in 1999 as a voluntary organisation and in 2004 became a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee. Pioneers Leading the Way has an overriding objective to facilitate the recruitment, training and development of volunteer mentors, from various racial, ethnic and religious communities in Birmingham, with an aim to support all students in need. We have a group of experienced trustees who all hold relevant experience in the work that the organisation carries out.
Pioneers Leading the Way are also in receipt of the National Standard for Mentoring from the National Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.
Pioneers Leading the Way are members of the Birmingham Mentoring Consortium which was established in December 1996 by a consortium of six mentoring organisations which collectively represented a wide cohort of communities from Birmingham.
Pioneers also engage in supporting various projects and initiatives all with the aim of supporting communities, residents and statutory authorities. We have been commissioned by many partners over the years and regularly help develop new pieces of work all within the key aim and objectives of the charity.
